Support letter from the designated corporation in Canada:
Before planning the Start-up in Canada, a migrating applicant needs to submit an official ‘letter of support’ from a reputed corporation along with his/her application form. The corporation may be any Canadian venture capital fund provider or Canadian business investor.
- Language proficiency requirements:
An applicant must qualify the minimum level of Canadian language benchmark (CLB) 5 in either English or French to be eligible for the program. It includes four abilities – reading, writing, listening and speaking.
- Business ownership criteria:
Sometimes an immigrant is not able to invest the whole amount alone, required in setting up a business. So, there is an ownership criterion for business in Canada in which a maximum of 5 people can apply for a Start-up visa for the same business if:
- Each individual should share at least 10 per cent voting rights of business; and,
- Minimum per cent for voting rights of business for the designated corporation should be 50 per cent
- Requirements of minimum funds:
At the time of submission of the application under this program, an applicant needs to show Proof of funds. He/she should have enough money to accompany his/her family after getting Canada PR Visa.
- Eligibility for the self-employed person program:

If yes, then the Self-employed Person Program is a favourable opportunity for you. It allows immigrants to stay and work in Canada permanently. However, each applicant needs to meet the fixed eligibility criteria before applying under this program.
- Relevant experience:
- An applicant must have at least two years of experience in participation in either cultural activities or athletics activities on the international level.
- Or, an applicant must have two years of experience of being self-employed in either cultural or athletic activities.
- Or, an applicant must have one year of experience in each category, mentioned above.
- Selection criteria:
Applications under this program are evaluated on five selection factors including education, age, experience, language proficiency, and adaptability. A candidate needs 35 points only out of 100 points based on afore-mentioned factors.
