On December 20, a recent Express Entry draw honed in on 10 specific transportation occupations, extending 670 invitations to apply for permanent residency. The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) cutoff score for this draw was set at 435.
The day before, on December 19, the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held a draw with a focus on trade occupations, issuing 1,000 invitations for permanent residency. The CRS cutoff score for this draw was 425.
In December, the Express Entry system is buzzing with activity, marking its sixth round of invitations. After a brief hiatus in November 2023, the momentum is back.
On December 18, a comprehensive Express Entry draw extended 1,325 invitations for permanent residency across all programs. What’s noteworthy is the drop in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score by 19 points, a significant shift from the previous draw on December 6th.

Express Entry Draws Resume:
IRCC announces Express Entry draws every two weeks, but there was a hiatus of 5 weeks from October 26 to December 5 without any invitation rounds.
Breaking the silence, IRCC conducted three consecutive draws between December 6th and 8th, extending invitations to 11,650 profiles for permanent residency. More excitingly, there are two additional draws scheduled for this week.
This development brings relief to candidates in the Express Entry pool, although the CRS cutoff score remains relatively high.
As we enter the new week, anticipate more targeted invitation rounds, especially considering the lower number of invitations in today’s Express Entry draw.
