This much-anticipated round of invitations targeting STEM fields arrived after approximately four months, leading to a rise in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score to 491 compared to the previous draw exclusively for STEM occupations.
STEM encompasses Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
Here are the specifics of today’s STEM Express Entry draw:
- Field: STEM occupations
- Invitations Issued: 4,500
- Rank for Invitation: 4,500 or higher
- Date and Time: April 11, 2024, at 13:23:42 UTC
- CRS Score of Lowest Invited Candidate: 491
- Tie-Breaking Rule: February 25, 2024, at 11:55:12 UTC
The immigration minister recently hinted at a shift towards prioritizing candidates from the “domestic” pool in upcoming draws. “Domestic” refers to candidates in the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). Hopefully, we’ll soon witness a draw exclusively for CEC candidates.

What is the Express Entry?
Express Entry is a system utilized by the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class for managing applications.
Candidates from these programs are ranked against each other within the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).
Points are awarded to candidates based on various factors such as age, work experience, education, occupation, and language proficiency.
Those with the highest cumulative scores have the best chance of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence status from the IRCC.
The IRCC aims to respond to candidates within six months of receiving their final application, according to the department’s service standard.
